Morning Activities
Mornings on Star Island offer time before the day's activities begin for activities like:
  • Wake up the island with the Wake-Up Singers.
  • Swim with the other "polar bears" from the dock.
  • Experience meditative outdoor yoga, weather permitting.
  • Take a contemplative walk around the island.
  • Enjoy coffee, hot chocolate and tea on the front porch.

  • Afternoon Activities
Afternoons on Star Island offer time to relax and play together.
    • Porch Chats and Resource Room — Cathy Seggel, DRE

    • The Best of Toby — Our master of play, Toby Dills, offers fun with tie dye, water rockets, ghost stories, and other collaborative opportunities for children, youth and adults to play together.

    • The Art Barn — Guided by Liz Irwin, the Art Barn is open each afternoon for you to open your creative self.

    • Young Adults — Our young adults will meet in the afternoon so that they can join the learning community in the mornings.

    • Workshop on Bridging for all Stages of Life

    • Small Group Ministry — Jude Geiger is creating a small group ministry track for individuals who would like to have this time to further explore the theme talk and develop a deeper relationship with members of the Island's learning community. Small Group Ministry is being offered as both a week-long morning workshop and a week-long afternoon activity. We will also offer individual sessions for drop ins in the afternoon.

    • Personal care — Time for personal rejuvenation, meditation, and relaxation.

    • The Starliner — LRE's daily publication, accepting your creative submissions.
Interfaith Leadership Training — Two-Day Opportunity
    Interfaith Youth Core
This workshop will be offered mid-week on Star: Wed 7/14 in the afternoon, and Thurs 7/15 all day. Conferees enrolled for a full-week morning workshop can attend this training both afternoons. Conferees enrolled in small group ministry can attend the full two-day opportunity.

Want to join LRE for just this training? Learn more about partial-week registration.

Staff from the Interfaith Youth Core will facilitate a day of training and activities equipping participants with the skills to engage religious diversity through shared values and action. Training will include dialogue facilitation, storytelling, and the language of religious pluralism, as well as games. All training will use examples from other Unitarian universalist multi-generational interfaith action, and incorporate awareness of other forms of diversity, oppression, and interaction. This is facilitated by a grant received by IFYC and the UUA from the Shelter Rock Large Grant Fund. This grant will also facilitate IFYC Training at General Assembly in June, and the creation of a UU-focused Tapestry of Faith interfaith action curriculum available for field testing later this year.
